THE municipal government of Jose Panganiban has begun the groundwork
for a bridge in Sitio Maybato at Baranggay Santa Cruz.
Costing P40 million, the bridge will serve the needs of the neighboring
baranggays San Pedro, San Martin and San Jose, the LGU said.
A team from the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) led by
Engr Abdul Kadil surveyed the area recently, after which the basic foundation
of the bridge was installed.
The project falls under the “Tulay ng Pangulo” program, which aims to
build bridges in the rural areas.
Residents in the four baranggays have expressed thanks to the local
government for making good its promise to solve the problems brought about by
the perennial flooding in their area.
They said that whenever it rained, their area would be flooded immediately,
thus preventing them to leave their homes to do some errands in town (Jose
Panganiban).
The LGU also plans to rebuild the bridges in Parang, Pag-Asa and
Nakalaya, which have already outlived their usefulness.
