New bridges rising … Around Mambulao, there’s a flurry of public works activities going on. One of them is the construction of the bridge that connects Parang to the town proper of Mambulao , which is underway. With a funding of about P4 million, of which P2 million came from the local government as counterpart fund, the bridge will replace the steel-wood crossing that has become a fixture in the baranggay for many years. The superstructure was donated by the national government under President Aquino’s bridge program. A temporary makeshift timber crossing was built just next to the bridge to allow pedestrians from either side of the river banks to cross. Vehicles including tricycles are only shuttling commuters up to the bridge on either side who would have to make another trip to reach their final destinations either in town or in Parang. Poblacion-bound motorists from Parang and vice-versa are taking the long route via the Larap road, which is not a bother at all, as this road is now concreted, thus allowing for a smooth drive. The bridge will be completed in two months.

Job in progress … In baranggay Sta Cruz on the western district of Mambulao, a brand-new bridge worth P40 million is being constructed. Once built, the bridge will allow local residents to cross the river even during floods caused by prolonged rains. The project falls under the “Tulay ng Pangulo” program, which aims to build bridges in the rural areas. Residents in the four neighboring baranggays, namely, Sta Cruz, San Isidro, San Jose and San Pedro have expressed thanks to the local government for making good its promise to solve the problems brought about by the perennial flooding in their area. The road and bridge projects of the municipal government of Mambulao are being supervised by Vice-Mayor Ariel (Aye) Non (pictured, above photo), who recently drove off to Sta Cruz to see the work’s progress. The rehab of baranggay bridges and construction of new ones are among the priority infrastructure initiatives of the local government under the helm of Mayor Dong Padilla. – Photos supplied/MWBuzz story by ALFREDO P HERNANDEZ

  1. Question lang, why this project is being supervised by the vice mayor diba it should be handled by the department of public highway seems you always have a good comment for Padilla and Non tandem masyadong halata ka na yata brod how much is the price kaya forgiving them a very nice support?

  2. Mr Jakiri Kiram: the price i am getting is the price of progress in Mambulao .. this is a municipal govt project under the President's bridge program for the rural areas ... and the vice-mayor has been tasked to supervise it ... if this is a violation, then the DPHW should have made noise already ... i am supporting these two guys because they are supporting the surge of devt in mambulao -- and anybody who supports progress in mindanao gets my support ... and one day your barrio bunog aka pag-asa will benefit too... i think there's some now on the pag-asa beach... i am well-paid here in Papua New Guinea ... so pls stop that crap ... and i am a professional journalist...

  3. To Mr Jakiri Kiram : if you read previous MWBuzz stories, you will learn i have also been mean to dong padilla and his men for their oversight on a number of things, including environment protection ... dong and the vice-mayor deserve some praises for a good job they are doing not only for their own reputation as politicians but also for your family back home and the rest of the mambulaoans. One day your family will benefit from the windfall of development that is coming up now in Mambulao -- sila dalawa lamang ang nakagawa nito. Kung Fans ka ni Walim ... good for you because you are exercising your right as a voter and a citizen of this country. but at the same time, you are helping slow down and even stop the flow of development in Mambulao. If you don't need progress in Mambulao, the rest of the 50,000 plus mambulaoans do. it's as simple as that. hope this is very clear.

  4. TO MR JAKIRI KIRAM: ANd one more thing, padre, MWBuzz, this online newsletter - is designed to cater to the development activities in Mambulao - to help spread the good news to overseas mambulaoans about my hometown Mambulao, which had been very rare over the past 60 years, until Dong Padilla and Aye Non, came to run the municipal government as mayor and vice-mayor in 2010. This newsletter will praise every one doing good to the community - whether or not he is in Mambulao or he is abroad - just let us know. so if you happen to do one good act to the community, being a citizen, i will praise you to high heavens, anbd will call your ONE OF THE RARE KINDS. If you do bad, i will flog you, just like what they do in the Muslim world to people who committed acts against the society. If you do not appreciate progress, it is your right. Just don't forget that you got a family who will benefit from it one of these days.

  5. Mr.A Hernandez, so that you may know I just want to share with you the factual events regarding the civil works improvement currently occurred in Mambulao. On Non appearance at the Sta. Cruz bridge it does not mean he is assign to supervise the installation but he's only visiting the project. Since it is president bridge program an accredited contractor from Manila was doing the installation but supervise by the DPHW engineer not the vice mayor as insisted. FYI, the operations was temporary stop due to NPA requirements of revolutionary tax as report received disseminated from my friend in mambulao. Regarding Parang and Mambulao one way bridge, its only now 2013 being started because of the IRA increased compared to previous years. As to road construction from Parang to Calero in other portion going to Larap that you give so much credit to Dong and Non that road construction are came from from Pinoy infrastructure program being distributed to areas where road cement construction is needed and part of it was from senator JPE were majority of the workers are all from Daet hired by DPHW and not a project of your Mayor.

    1. the caption says it's a project under the president's program. the lgu is not claiming for the entire proejct... it has a counterpart fund on the cost. Senator enrile's fund was not enough to complete a 500meter concrete road. so the local government appealed to mambulaoans for cement donation to keep the road project pushing.

  6. For info, I am not fan of WALIM as you think I'm just a concern citizen against false publication just to favor a certain person. I know your good writing is just relying on reports with pictures attachment forwarded by your colleagues in Mambulao who are good friends of your beloved mayor but as a professional journalist you have to perform your job in a truthful way.

    1. Mr Jakiri Kiram: MWBuzz was launched in nov 2011 and from then on, we started reporting what has been happening in the municipality. the projects of the local governmetn was in progress and we did not miss covering it. and made follow ups. i was in parang last april-may and saw a number of the road projects. and we reported it. the election 2013 is just coincidence. ariel non busies himselp checking out the progress of the projects. there's nothing wrong with that. the funding for the road projects were not enough, so the mayor appealed to mambulaoans for cement assistance. that's why road building has proceeded. we repoorted on the funding from friendly national officials for raod and farm to market roads... granting that the funds came from the President's office under the bridge program don't you th ink the local government should not show interest in the project by looking after the progress? after all it is the municipality that would benefit... and can you expect the dpwh people to closely look after these projects, esp in mambulao. it is just proper na bantayan ng municipyo ang proyekto's projectd to see to it that it is progressing as planned. there has been no false publication in MWBuzz... please remember that.

  8. You could verify this report to Mayor Padilla and to his Vice you could also include in your query the customary practice of NPA in mambulao on their customary collections of permit to campaign to every politician in Camarines Norte i'm sure the aforesaid mayor and his vice so with all mambulao candidates has already settled their campaign account to NPA.

  9. My grievance against your publication would only be taken away if you will include in your reports project of some politician not align with Padilla's party like Governor Tallado who also extend his services to Jose panganiban barangays namely, installing covered courts and distribution of Phil health cards to all barangay of Mambulao. Larap was one of his latest recipient of covered court and barangay office completion thru the effort of Larap barangay chairman Nimfa Dilao a victim of Vice mayor Non character assassination.

    1. walim and company don't take us seriously -- that could be the reason there has been no response from them. while they do that, we will keep on writing about what's going on in the community that we know about. and while the people in mambulao learn about what's going on - esp the good ones, the more they are inclined to support it in this coming elections ... this is one thing that walim and company don't understand... the value of positive publicity ... it generates votes, you know. hope they realize this soon enough as the campaign season is about to kick.

  10. We have invited everyone to send in his or her contributions to MWBuzz. i specifically invited Walim and company - to mean the LP in CamNorte - to promote their activities, projects and their programs using MWBuzz. the offer stands up to these days. I have invited them to send in their election campaign platforms so we can print it and give our kababayans an idea what they intend to do after this election. But so far, no feedback. so meanwhile, we have access to info on some of the administration's activities which we could write about.
