A NEW York-based Mambulaoan is seeking the support of his Kababayan worldwide to boost his wife’s chances in the forthcoming Ten Outstanding Filipino Americans in New York (TOFA-NY) award.

Nelson Valles, a company executive and an accountant by profession, is campaigning for his wife Jaena who is vying for the TOFA-NY award under the “business and entrepreneurship” category.

Nelso is the youngest of the six children of Manuel Valles Cacawa, the former chief of police in Mambulao during the time of mayors Marciano Linis, Roy Padilla Sr and Freddie Schneider.

Jaena, nee Hermosilla, is a partner and majority-owner of Dadia Valles Vendiola LLP, an accounting and auditing firm based in New York (www.dadiacpas.com).
She is responsible for the quality control, personnel, finance, accounting and marketing of the firm.

She is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in the state of New York and the Philippines, a Certified Global Management Accountant (CGMA) and a notary public in the state of New York.

Thru the firm, she has helped a lot of deserving Filipino professionals to come and work in the USA via H-1B petition and green card sponsorship.
She has over 22 years of experience in public accounting, internal auditing, and corporate controllership.

Prior to the formation of the firm, she worked as a senior auditor of SyCip, Gorres, Velayo & Co. (SGV, Ernst & Young Global), Lucas, Tucker CPA and American Express.

She was the chief operating officer and controller of Weeplay Apparel.
She has worked as vice-president of C&P Homes (now Vista Land as listed in the PSE).

Happily married to Jaena for 23 years, Nelson is also MBA candidate at the state University of Saratoga. They have three children together.

He earned his high school diploma at JPNHS in 1979 and graduated at FEU BSC-accounting in 1983.

Nelson is seeking the support of netizen-Mambulaoans to help him generate “Likes” on Facebook sites where this story has been posted.

"Likes" deadline voting ends on September 30.

Awarding will be on October 26 at the Carnegie Hall.
