New Bicol police recruits take their oaths

LEGAZPI CITY: Some 284 new police recruits in Bicol composing the first batch of additional members of the regional police force last Wednesday morning took their oath in a ceremony administered by Bicol Regional Police Director, Chief Supt Victor P. Deona, at Camp Simeon Ola here.

Deona said the new police recruits will undergo the Public Safety Basic Recruit Course in Regional Training School 5 (RTS – 5) for one year before they will be assigned to the different municipalities and cities in the region.

The oath-taking was attended by the families and loved ones who would not be able to see them for the period that they will train.

Deona said the Bicol region has a quota of 501 but the PRO5 did not meet the number so they decided to have new recruitment to compose the second batch whose members will take oath on Dec. 27.

The new recruits underwent rigid screening and training process before they were sworn to duty, he added.

Of the new police officers, 209 are males and 75 are females.

The second batch members are now undergoing similar training before they will be accepted and take their oath as new police officers to complete the 501 quota for Bicol.

Senior Supt Gregory Bongalbal, RTS-5 Training School director, said the new police recruits will undergo rigid training and study to prepare PNA
