Parang beach seawall

Angry-wave protector … This seawall has been proven to be effective in stopping angry surge of waves during stormy weather. Costing about P5 million, this 72m-long wave stopper was built and completed by CamNorte Provincial Governor Edgardo A Tallado just before the start of the last election campaign season. Squatter families who live within the protective zone of the wall said it (the wall) stopped the waves from slamming them during a recent typhoon. Tallado, during his campaign where he sought for re-election (and he won, of course), promised to extend the concrete barrier up to the other end of the 1.5km long Parang beach, thinking that he could continue picking up pork money from his friends at the Senate and Congress. The funding for this wall was part of the P159 million that Tallado claimed he poured into the development of municipality of Mambulao during his first term as governor. – MWBuzzpic and text by AP HERNANDEZ
