CSC confers eligibility to 100 barangay execs in CamNorte

By JUAN ESCANDOR JR

DAET, CamNorte: The Civil Service Commission (CSC) has conferred to more than 100 barangay officials in CamNorte the career service sub-professional eligibility that will qualify them for employment in the government service.

Cecilia Nieto, CSC Bicol regional director, said the career service sub-professional eligibility is appropriate for positions that require the completion of two years studies in college like the positions of clerk, administrative assistant, or service positions.

Nieto said the civil service eligibility on the account of being a barangay official is open to the punong barangay, members of barangay council, Sangguniang Kabataan president, and the appointed treasurer and secretary.

“It is given to these persons (barangay officials) as long as they have completed six years in public service and submitted required documents pursuant to the Civil Service Service’s issuance of directive,” she said.

Cecilia Balmaceda, CSC provincial director, said the barangay officials had submitted the oath of office, certification from the Department of the  Interior and Local Government (DILG), certification of absence of administrative case, certification of non-relationship with the secretary, treasurer, and punong barangay, birth certificate from National Statistics Office, and paid processing and evaluation fee of P500.

Nieto said the CSC also launched July this year civil service eligibility to the members of the Sangguniang Bayan, Sangguniang Panglungsod, and Sangguniang   Panlalawigan, including the vice mayor and vice governor of respective Sanggunian in the Bicol region.

But she said that nobody yet has submitted application for the civil service eligibility offered to Sangguniang members.
Nieto said the civil service eligibility Sangguniang members are entitled to include career service sub-professional and career service professional eligibility.

Sanggunian members qualified to apply for career service sub-professional eligibility must have served their positions for six years while for the career service professional eligibility, nine years of public service are required.

Conferment of career service professional eligibility qualifies a Sangguniang member to be appointed to professional, technical, and scientific positions to  as high as division heads, accountant, administrative officer, medical specialist, and the like. – Bicol Mail
