THE Mambulao local government has received the “most outstanding accounting office” award for the year 2012.
The award was given by the Association of Government Accountants of the Philippines (AGAP), Inc during its national convention in
Bacolod City on October 14-17.
The convention carried the theme Asensong ramdam ni
Juan: The challenge financial managers must face”.
The LGU’s unit was selected by AGAP after a
nationwide search for the best performing municipal government accounting
office.
The LGU received the award through the
recommendation of the Commission on Audit (COA).
The award was based on the 2012 audit performance
summary report which showed the LGU’s proficiency in performing accounting,
controlling, budgeting, auditing, cashiering and other financial functions.
Mayor Ricarte "Dong" Padilla praised the accounting team, saying that the recognition from COA was more than enough to show to the people of Mambulao the hard work that the local government was doing to promote transparency in the use of municipal funds towards the good of the community.
"My humble administration, from the mayor down to the lowest-ranking employee, is proud to receive such an honor from the highest accounting regulatory body of the country - the Commission on Audit."
The accounting unit was represented by municipal
accountant Christine Sucgang Napa (pictured above) at the convention.
