A HONG
KONG based Mambulaoan has donated 40 bags of cement to help the Mambulao local
government sustain its road cementing project around the municipality.
Jennie G
Ramos-Kwan was responding to an appeal by Alfredo P Hernandez, editor-in-chief
of MWBuzz, the online news tunnel, for more bags of cement donations towards
Mayor Ricarte Padilla’s program to improve the road networks across the
municipality’s 27 baranggays.
'an opportunity to help'
Ramos-Kwan,
a permanent resident in Hong Kong with four grown up children and working as a
food and beverage general manager, saw the appeal in a small poem a few days
ago and called Hernandez to help coordinate her donation.
She said
Padilla is doing a good job of improving the lives of her kababayan and
deserves a lot of helping hand from those who have the “opportunity to help”.
“I consider
myself one of them.”
Padilla’s
road program began in July 2010 when he assumed his first term of office.
Re-elected,
he has intensified his fund-raising for the road project by appealing to the
community for help and lobbying with the high-ranking government officials for more
funding.
The
Mambulao local government unit has been building a kilometer of cement road for
only P5 million versus the standard cost of P10 million if built by the Bureau
of Public Works and Highways.
Hernandez’s
appeal was carried in a 13-line verse urging overseas Mambulaoans to help the
road project by donating bags of cement:
ISANG DIPA NA LANG PO
ANG LAYO NG LARAP...
ANG LAYO NG LARAP...
KONTING BATO, KONTENG SEMENTO
ANG ATING HINAHAHAP...
BAWAT OFW NA UUWI SA ATIN
PWEDE BANG MAAWITAN
NG DALAWAMPUNG BAG?
UH, KUNG KAYO NAMA’Y
TIPONG SOBRA-SOBRA
DI MASAMANG TINAPAY
KUNG MAGING LIMAMPU
NA MAY PASOBRA
PANG ISA O DALAWA!!!
