THE municipality
of Jose Panganiban has been awarded P1 million for keeping a good governance
two years in a row.
The check,
which came from Department of Interior and Local Government Secretary Jessie
Robredo, was in line with JP-LG’s second year award of “Good Governance”.
Vice-Mayor
Ariel Non said in a Facebook posting that the money will augment the on-going
road concreting project of the municipal government from the
Malapayungan-to-Larap portion of the road.
Last March,
JP-LG was named along with 11 other towns of CamNorte that will receive the
so-called “Seal of Good Housekeeping” from DILG that would see them a windfall
of funding assistance.
The towns of
Camarines Norte were among the 79 local government units (LGUs) that qualified
out of the 120 in Bicol region, according to DILG Regional Director Blandino
Maceda.
He said Jose
Panganiban and the rest of the named LGUS were selected after a “thorough
evaluation conducted by a team of representatives from government and private
sectors.
The money is
the first funding assistance so far from DILG.
