JPNHS alumni: Batch 73 most active

AN alumnus of the Jose Panganiban National High School (JPNHS) has taken pride in being a member of Batch 73, saying theirs “is the most active among more than 60 batches from the school”.

Yokosuka, Japan-based Arnel P Hernandez said Batch 73 has 135 "known" members who are active in social projects that benefited less-fortunate Mambulaoans.

“We’re the most active among the batches, especially in providing social services whenever we held our batch reunion,” Hernandez said.

He told MWBuzz that a few years ago, they donated medical equipment and supplies to the Primary Hospital in Mambulao and reference books to the JPNHS through the assistance of Rotary Club San Pedro (Laguna) South, Governor Rose Celis, who facilitated the donation from the Rotary International (RI) and Rotary World Help Network (RWHN).

The medical donations included an ECG machine with paper, Autoclave, suction machine, mattress and pillows/pillow cases and about 1,000 pieces of medical supplies from syringes with needles to coolers and refrigerant.

The medical supplies were received by then Mayor William Lim on behalf of the Primary Hospital, while the reference books were received by JPNHS Principal Mario Garino.

The donations coincided with the Batch ‘73’s reunion held in Mambulao and attended by many overseas members.

The batch had also sponsored a daughter of a poor batch mate to college, who is now more capable of helping her family financially to send her siblings to school.

Earlier, Batch 73 had also donated reading glasses to many of their less-fortunate schoolmates and Faculty members of JPNHS.

The items were put together by the Filipino members of the Knight of Columbus chapter at the US Naval facility in Yokosuka, Japan.
