Bicol travel and food expo, 11th regional tourism congress set to roll off this September


NAGA CITY: The first-ever Bicol Travel and Food Expo (BITFEX) and the 11th Regional Tourism Congress will be held on September 12-16 at the Avenue Plaza Hotel, the premiere boutique hotel in this city.

These events will be held in time for the Peñafrancia festival, spearheaded by PBN TV5 and DZOK, in partnership with the city government of Naga and Avenue Plaza Hotel, and in cooperation with the Department of Tourism V, the Department of Trade & Industry V, Department of Agriculture V, TESDA V, and the Bicol Regional Tourism Council (BRTC).

”BITFEX is the gathering of the key players in the tourism, food service, and hospitality industries to promote their respective products, services, events and tourist attractions under one roof in the Bicol Region,” says Station Manager Elmer Abad of TV 5/DZOK Naga.

Tourism officers, travel and tour agencies, local government units, hotels and restaurants, culinary schools, airlines and transportation companies, including the suppliers, distributors, manufacturers,  franchising companies, small-scale businesses on food and beverages, and other related businesses will be invited to join.

”BITFEX will serve as the best venue for the exhibitors and sponsors to network and market their businesses and tourist destinations in Bicol. 

“This is our way of helping our entrepreneurs and the local chief executives to promote the tourism potentials of their respective local government units,” said BITFEX Project Director Glenn J Barcelon, who is concurrently Executive Vice-President of PBN Broadcasting Network, Inc.

The event will also feature the 11th Bicol tourism congress, an annual gathering of the Bicol Regional Tourism Council (BRTC) under Dan de Leon, the Bicol food festival inter-school and open competition,  “Asenso Bicolano”— livelihood, entrepreneurship and jobs fair, health and wellness and the fiesta Naga, fiesta Bicolandia song and dance  ompetition, Miss BITFEX tourism pageant,  bartending competition with Club OK Specials, the 1st Bicol acoustic competition, and the live coverage of the fluvial procession, aside from raffles and other exciting activities designed to attract more people to visit and participate in this 5-day event.

BITFEX is also supported by Smart/PLDT, Albay Gov Joey Salceda, Geriatrica Intl Phils, Inc, Ako Bicol, CamSur Rep Luis R Villafuerte, Taichi, Sunlife of Canada, Misibis Bay, PNR, iFern, Real Detergent, Rubert James Exhibit Masters, Ms. Jean Goulburn, and print media partners Bicol Mail and The Mayon Times.

Part of the proceeds of this event will go to the various social services and projects of PBN Foundation, Inc., the social service arm of PBN Broadcasting Network, Inc.

The event will be covered and promoted extensively by the five radio and two television stations of PBN Broadcasting Network, Inc, the largest and multi-awarded network in the Bicol Region.
