Pledges on Tesda scholarship funds

By ALFREDO P HERNANDEZ

THE cost of sending a scholar to Tesda is about Php12,000, which is something like US$300, an amount you would pay when you and five of your friends would dine at a Japanese restaurant say, in Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York City, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Sydney, London or Dubai.

Chicken feed.

Too bad, the pleasure from this nice meal would wear out in 24 hours.

On the other hand, a scholar, who is able to complete a course at Tesda, would enjoy a life-long benefit from his training.

It will land him or her good-paying job, owing to the trade skills acquired. More benefits because it will also help improve the lot of their family.

To kick-start this whole affair, I am making, on behalf of Mambulaoans WorldWide Buzz, a pledge to send one scholar to Tesda, and occupy the No. 1 slot of would-be-donors’ list below.

If you wish to fill slot No. 3 (
No. 2 has just been occupied) or No. 4, and so on, please inform LaPIMa about your pledge to sponsor a scholar.

The names of would-be-donors will appear on this space once their pledges have been confirmed and/or sent to Lapima's bank account with BPI.

Name : Larap PIM Association Inc.,
Bank : Bank of the Philippine Islands , Blue Ridge Branch
BPI Bank Account : 0411-0191-79

Another way to sponsor: Grab two of your favorite buddies, and shake them down for US$100 each. You’ll have to worry only about the third US$100 – your share -- to raise US$300. This way, you three would be co-sponsoring one Tesda scholar.

If money is really tight, another option is to stash away US$50 under your mattress, every payday, starting next month (December) so that by end of May you should have raised US$300 – in time for TESDA enrolment.

Remember, this is THE OPPORTUNITY for you to help a Mambulaoan. Don’t let it go away

Here’s the list of pledge-makers, so far:

1. Alfredo P Hernandez, Port Moresby, PNG (delivered)
2. Norma Edar, Texas (delivered)
3.
4.
