MANILA: Two members of the Larap PIM Association (LaPIMa) have donated a total of A$400 (about Php17,880) to fund the holding of the association’s reunion on April 21, 2012.
The donors were Minda Camat Robles (A$200) and Delia Camat Higoy (S$200), who are both based in Australia.
The fund was received by LaPIMa secretary Samuel Tatom and was turned over to the association treasurer Sam Jimenez for sake-keeping.
“It was the first foreign donation towards the LaPIMA reunion next April,” says Tatom.
The April reunion is aimed at raising funds for its planned scholarship program for deserving children of members who are living in Larap.
The scholarships would be in the form of technical and skills training at TESDA (Technical Education and Skills Development Authority).
Tatom is enjoining overseas members to donate towards this project, saying that many of their Larap-based members have children that needed help to further their studies after graduating from high school.
“TESD training is one option that LaPIMa could well provide to deserving graduates,” he said.
Based on records at TESDA, graduates of its technical and vocational courses have been able to land jobs in various industries.
