Former rivals join forces in CamNorte

LABO, CamNorte: Showing that nothing is permanent in politics, former rivals in 2010 elections have joined forces in the incoming elections in the 12-town CamNorte province.
Winifredo “Winnie” Balce Oco, a three-term mayor of this town, has allied with CamNorte Edgardo Tallado, one of the rivals in the three-corner fight during the 2010 gubernatorial race.

Oco, a member of PDP-Laban and running for congressman in the five-town Tagalog-speaking district of CamNorte, said he was invited by Tallado to join him in this year’s election and he did not hesitate.

He said he saw the same development agenda that Tallado undertakes which made him realize that they can be partners in development.

“We united in front of our leaders. I saw the enthusiasm in Gov. Tallado to join forces with me. We have the same objective of making CamNorte a progressive one,” Oco said.

He shared he sees himself qualified to run as congressman and that he was a “Hall of Famer” of Kalasag Award and was once the president of the League of Municipalities for Luzon.

Oco recalled that in candidates’ forum of three gubernatorial candidates he named Tallado as the governor he will vote when asked who will he vote for if he was not a candidate.

He is pitted against Maria Theresa Barcelona Reyes, first cousin to Rep Renato “Jojo” Unico Jr, who will be running as governor against Tallado. – Bicol Mail
