Two workers hurt as bus explodes in CamNorte




DAET, CamNorte: A mechanic and his co-worker were injured when the bus they were repairing in Barangay Camambugan, this capital town, exploded recently, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said. 

Superintendent Winston De Belen, acting chief of police of of Daet, said the explosion that hurt auto mechanic Eusebio Repato, 28, and a certain Junior Abuyo took place at the motorpool of Superlines Transport Company (STC) at about 2.10pm.

STC employs Repato and Abuyo, said De Belen.

De Belen said Repato, together with Apuyan, was performing a leak test on the air-conditioning system of one of the buses of STC using oxygen when he accidentally ignited the Fron (chlorofluorocarbon) gas in its refrigerant chamber.

The bus had a mechanical explosion as a result, added De Belen.
The two sustained injuries all over their bodies and were brought to Santissima Trinidad Hospital in this town where they are recuperating. – Bicol Mail
