Mayor Dong walks the Parang beach

So far, so
good … recently, Mambulao Mayor Ricarte “Dong” Padilla paid a surprise visit to
the municipal beach at Baranggay Parang. “So far, so good” was most likely what
he told himself, seeing a relatively big change as far as cleanliness along the
shore was concerned. Aware that the municipal beach has become a joke on
the internet, especially on Facebook, because of the rubbish pollution that has inundated its natural physical condition, which also affected the well-being of
the residents along the shoreline, Mayor Dong has continuously encouraged the shoreline household
to maintain the cleanliness in their surroundings. Recently, there was a beach
cleanup that involved the baranggays, students and municipal employees. All
agreed that there’s only one beach that they could have in their lifetime and
that is the Parang beach, which they have to take care of as responsible
citizens of the Mambulao community. MWBuzz, since its launching a year ago now, has waged a campaign to create awareness on the importance of the beach to the community, at the same time encouraging Mambulaoans to do something to save and rehabilitate it before the community lose it forever. – Photo by ROBERT RYAN RAGEL/MWBuzz text by AP HERNANDEZ

Pictures of what used to be filthy Parang beach first appeared in the first edition of MWBuzz that came out on November 9, 2011. From then on, we never stopped hammering on the ISSUE OF pollution that has choked the beach and appealed to one and all to help rescue this beach. In its 24th edition that came out on Friday, October 12, 2012, marking its FIRST ANNIVERSARY as online news tunnel, MWBuzz was able to post online - with pride of course -- a relatively good-clean looking Parang beach. Thanks to the cooperation of the community in Parang through the tireless effort of Mayor Dong to remind the citizenry in Mambulao that the Parang beach is the only one we have near us that it needed to be protected and conserved as part of our community environmen. MABUHAY KAYONG LAHAT!
