Caretaker razes house after killing its owner

DAET, CamNorte: A caretaker burned down a house in Barangay Dalas in Labo, Camarines Norte recently after strangling its owner, the police said.

Senior Supt Joselito Esquivel, Camarines Norte police chief, identified the suspect as Ramil Egay, 29, and the victim as Cleofe Malubay, 84.

Egay, according to Esquivel, only reported the fire on Sunday morning (May 13). The victim's house and the nearby hut where the suspect lived were gutted to the ground by then.

Esquivel quoted Barangay Kagawad Ceferino Lacson Jr as saying that the suspect approached and told him (Lacson Jr) that he buried the body of Malubay about five meters from his hut.

Police operatives immediately dug out the spot and recovered the body of Malubay inside a sack, with a wire around his neck, Esquivel said.
Criminal complaints are now being readied by the police against the suspect.

Esquivel said anger motivated the suspect to do the crime. - Bicol Mail
